Kenya Photo Safari - October 2022
Highlights
- Special precautions taken relating to Covid-19 in place – see tag “Why Kenya”.
- We fly instead of driving between locations – more time for photography.
- The photo safari features some of the most stunning wildlife East Africa to offer, with one important advantage: you will be travelling in the company of the two professional photographers, Andre Cloete and Jay Collier to help you capture memorable images.
- We will show you the best of the Maasai Mara and its predators and if the action is on, we will spend whole days photographing, taking a picnic lunch with us – a true wilderness experience.
- Entim Safari Camp is designed to give you the friendliest, most intimate, luxury safari camp experience and the best wildlife safari in the Maasai Mara. Its prime location along the Mara River is unrivalled for seeing and photographing animals all year around, but particularly to observe the greatest wildlife show on earth; over a million wildebeest, zebra and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti into the Maasai Mara.
- The Cliff, Nakuru is perched at the top of a 100 metre high rock face and is Lake Nakuru’s newest addition – a 10 room luxury camp opened in June 2018. While ‘luxury camp’ is the simplest description, in reality The Cliff located inside the park defies conventional labels, being a combination of safari lodge, tented camp and boutique hotel.
- Lewa Safari Camp is the only tourist facility within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. This unique and exclusive retreat offers privileged access to 65,000 acres of private protected wilderness. Here you will be privy to some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing that Kenya has to offer: lion, leopard and jackal thrive on the rich diversity of prey that inhabits the area. The Conservancy is home to the largest concentration of Grevy’s zebra in the world, and its range of habitats attracts diverse birdlife and hosts over 200 Black and White rhino.
- Photography focused game drives in open 4-wheel drive vehicles with experienced rangers and trackers.
- Scheduled small plane flight from Nairobi to Maasai Mara and return flight to Nairobi airport from Lewa.
- Private charter flights from Maasai Mara to Nakuru and from Nakuru to Lewa.
- It is suitable for people with varying levels of photographic experience and is a trip that a non-photographing spouse or travel partner will thoroughly enjoy.
- The safari is confined to a maximum of twelve (12) participants.

Kenya & Covid-19
Kenya is one of the most incredible safari destinations in Africa but like all of Africa was exposed to the spread on the Covid-19 virus.
Despite the severe global travel restrictions during 2020 and 2021, Kenya was one of the first African countries to recommence the arrival of international travellers.
Kenya has the most proactive travel response to Covid-19, of all African countries.
From mid-2020 onwards, it initiated protocols to maximise safe and secure travel into and within the country.
These protocols were benchmarked against global standards.
-
- Kenya prioritised vaccination of its tourism staff, so that by September 2021, all travellers to Kenya moved through a vaccine circuit or ‘bubble’, thus providing a high level of comfort for international travellers to the country.
- Kenya was one of the first African countries to apply for and receive accreditation from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), for its Covid-19 protocols.

The protocols, established specifically for the travel sector, and accreditations received from WTTC are viewed as an endorsement of Kenya’s professional and scientific-based approach to managing the Covid-19 virus.
- Kenya was an early adopter of the PanaBIOS online system – a secure biosurveillance and bioscreening digital application suite for contagion monitoring, mass testing, process traceability and outcomes tracking and locating of possible Covid-19 hotspots. Use of PanaBIOS allows each PCR test uploaded by travellers to be verified – providing a secure data base of PCR test compliance.
- Once in Kenya, the protocols at lodges are highly organised and have been shown to be effective.
- Outgoing PCR tests are undertaken at your lodge or in the field. The results are uploaded to PanaBIOS for you – if acceptable (meaning a negative Covid-19 result) you are ensured of a smooth journey home after your safari.
- Resulting from the above, Kenya was the first African country to be removed from the UK travel’ red’ list in September 2021. This was significant for travellers because many European and other countries used the UK list as the benchmark for recommencement of travel to previously restricted countries. It demonstrated the positive steps taken by Kenya to ensure it was travel compliant, as soon as possible. Should further restrictions be introduced, Kenya will very likely move swiftly to ensure the country is excluded from any travel restricted list.
- Arranging the photo safari within one country minimises the health risks and avoids the additional ‘hassles’ of having to undergo PCR tests at border crossings.
