Humpback Blow Holes

Humpback Whale Blowholes Close Up by Denis Glennon AO

This adult female humpback whale swam directly under my yacht several times off the coast of Western Australia.  On one occasion she took her young calf with her as if she wished to display it as a proud mother. Clearly she was at ease coming so close to us and the yacht. This shot was taken during her last pass under the yacht as she surfaced within 10 metres on the starboard side. To get so close to the blowholes is a rare experience indeed. To photograph them is a blessing for every nature photographer.
