Introducing iconPHOTO

Photographic competitions have the power to tell stories untold, awaken passions, show the intimate and unseen and engender aspirations to improve.

Photographs selected for entry to competitions tend to bring out the “best of the best” images.

There is something very heartwarming and rewarding to receive peer recognition for one’s work.

There is also a quiet fulfillment experienced when your image is selected as being exceptional and individual.

When professionally arranged and managed, photographic competitions contribute in significant ways to encourage and inspire photographers to create great images that are a celebration of light, inspiration and sheer human joy.

For these reasons, Iconic Images, together with  respected partners, conduct a small number of special interest photographic competitions each year.

The inaugural Iconic Images/Australian Photographic Society (APS) competition, iconPHOTO was officially launched at the APS Annual Conference, on 5 October 2009 and closed at 5.00pm (WST) on Monday 14th June 2010.

Over 1350 entries were received and the official judging of entries will take place on Thurs 22th July 2010.

Shortlisted entrants will be contacted by 31st July 2010, for the preparation of prints; these entrants will not be informed of the prize(s) for which they have been shortlisted.

Prizes will be announced at APSCON 2010, in Roma, Queensland, in September 2010.

This prestigious competition for all amateur photographers offered outstanding prizes, valued at more than $17,000.00.

Nick Melidonis, Master Photographer AIPP, and a judge of iconPHOTO, prepared a very useful article, titled, “How To Prepare Winning Images for iconPHOTO”.
